What should I do about the crack in my window? - crack for rhinoceros 4.0 evaluation

Last week there appeared a small crack on the right side of the left pane of the window of my office at home. It is an old string band in the upstairs bedroom of a terrace of 1930.

Anyway, a few days, the crack was filled from right to left across the entire extended panel - about 45 cm (18 inches). The crack is located in one of the two plates in the bottom half of the window, so the part that slides and host the opening and closing the window.

The crack appears to spread anywhere else, after reaching the edges, but I'm afraid the glass will crush the open / close the window and moves. So I thought I should try to stabilize the crack in any way - with a band or movie or something. Or do I really need to replace the panel? Any tips on what to do to be welcomed!
